Pet treats and salmonella

Maddie loves her peanut butter so the recent salmonella scare had me doing some research.

Fortunately all of the peanut butter treats in her closet (Maddie has her own closet filled with her food and treats and the toys we put away when we rotate them out) — Paul Newman Organic Peanut Butter Treats, Wet Noses Peanut Butter and Molasses treats, and Snausages SnawSomes Peanut Butter and Apple Flavor treats — are just fine. Each product has a note on its Web site telling worried consumers they were not part of the scare or the recall. She also loves getting peanut butter in her Kong, but that is safe as well.

I hope everyone’s pets are safe and enjoying salmonella-free peanut butter.
